Do not be fooled, This How to Distinguish PMS and Signs of Pregnancy

"Are these symptoms of PMS or a sign of pregnancy?" This question may have crossed your mind. There are indeed some signs of PMS that are similar to the early symptoms of pregnancy. Come on, recognize what are the differences in PMS and signs of pregnancy. PMS (premenstrual syndrome) is a collection of symptoms or complaints that occur within 1-2 weeks before menstruation. These complaints are subjective and may vary from woman to woman.

Recognize the Differences in PMS and Signs of Pregnancy

Although similar, the following signs can be a reference to distinguish STDs and early pregnancy symptoms:

1. Abdominal cramps

PMS: 1-2 days before menstruation you may experience stomach cramps. Abdominal cramps you experience when PMS can be reduced when you menstruate and disappear on the last day of menstruation. Pregnancy: Abdominal cramps that occur early and during pregnancy may be similar to abdominal cramps during menstruation, but the location is different. Cramps due to pregnancy usually feel under the stomach or lower back and this condition can last longer than PMS, which is in a matter of weeks to months.

2. Spotting or blood spots

PMS: Spotting of blood can be a sign that you will get your period or are in PMS. In PMS, blood spots or brown spots will be followed by menstrual bleeding for 2-7 days. Pregnancy: Spotting the bleeding in your underwear or during urination can also be one of the early signs of pregnancy. These spots are also called implantation spots. Spots of blood that occur as a result of implantation usually only occur within a few days and only a little bleeding.

3. Breast pain

PMS: Pain accompanied by swelling in the breast can occur before you menstruate. This pain varies from mild to very painful. Pregnancy: If this pain is related to pregnancy, generally the pain is severe. Breasts may also be very sensitive, and look fuller.

4. Increased appetite

PMS: When you are PMS, your appetite may increase and often feel hungry. Pregnancy: Just like PMS, during early pregnancy your appetite can also increase. This is because the body needs to adapt to a growing fetus, besides that pregnant women can also have the desire to eat certain foods or often called cravings.

5. Easily tired

PMS: Fatigue before menstruation can occur due to increased hormones estrogen and progesterone. Pregnancy: Hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy can also make you experience fatigue. It's just that the fatigue felt during pregnancy can exceed the fatigue when PMS. You can distinguish between STDs and signs of pregnancy by noting the differences described above. If you are planning a pregnancy, do a pregnancy test with a test pack after your period is late or check with your obstetrician. This is to ascertain whether you only have PMS or are currently pregnant.
